You ain't nothin' but a Slumdog
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal makes a mockery of himself, GOP

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal had a transparent message he wanted to deliver after Barack Obama's brilliant address to the joint session of Congress -- I want to be your next Commander-in-Chief in 2012. His road to Hell might've been paved with good intentions, but he looked and acted like a complete jackass. Let's start with those forceful smiles. The average person knows he's not happy to represent a clueless political party. Second, it's easy to use government as a scapegoat when you don't have any concrete solutions. He spent this time using broad strokes to commend the American people and bash government. Third, the only health care reform his party could accomplish is catering even more to the insurance companies. Finally, invoking the response to Hurricane Katrina and government is the worst thing he could've done. That was the most reprehensible inaction our federal government ever did in our nation's history. Chris Matthews shouldn't have to explain why he muttered "Oh, God" while Jindal moseyed around the corner to face the cameras. Jindal looked like a fool and should be shamed. Here is desperation at its finest:

His speech was certainly a blast from the past, but thankfully, we don't live in the days of Republican rule any longer. I agree that bringing up Katrina was cringe-worthy and most Americans are not in the mood to be told that their government can't help them in these troubled times. I also laughed at Matthews' comment.

Have a good weekend, PJ.

Good addition to my ponderings. Yes, the blast from the past is certainly the angle Repubs. are taking and the majority of Americans flatly reject that philosophy. Here's the biggest kicker I learned about Jindal. Remember when he opposed taking the stimulus money? It turns out he is looking at receiving 98 percent of it, so he was flat out lying when he said he would reject it. A small percentage appears to be headed to his state's legislature where it's inevitable they'll vote "yes" to receive that funding.

His speech is definitely symptomatic of a party that completely lacks any understanding of America's predicament at the moment. Sometimes the best way to lead is to take a step backward and regather.

I like your take on this. On the other hand though, the use of the word "Slumdog" in this situation may not be the best choice of words. That term represents a bitter reality for many of South Asian decent.

Dammerung,

I completely agree that the term "Slumdog" is a very demeaning term to those in South Asia. For some reason Elvis and "Slumdog Millionaire" were on my mind just before posting this, so I decided to use it for "poor decision making" and obviously rewording the old Elvis tune. His ideas represent those coming from the gutter and that's the point of the headline.

I'm saddened to hear the children from the "Slumdog Millionaire" film have returned to the slums where they face unimaginable hardships. In no way am I downplaying Jindal's own personal life success story. I'm merely making light of a silly attempt to gain notoriety and hence, it was a low-life maneuver.

We do need to reconcile with the mistakes made from the past to ensure we don't repeat them. I'm encouraged thus far with some minor disagreements with the Obama administration's positions. They're proactive and hitting the ground running thus far. I commend their work ethic.

Once again, I apologize for you accurately pointing out a term that has been used as a wedge throughout South Asia's history. This won't happen again. I adamantly oppose prejudices and discriminations of any kind. It's those who do the oppressing to others who I verbally attack.

Thanks for commenting on my toads.
Speaking of jaded, did you know even jade is jaded? It looks like any old rock 'till you break it open and it's all green inside!
